KNOW YOUR ENEMY HOME
The start of 2000 continued the Manics success with a one off single. 'The Masses Against The Classes' shot straight in at number one and was a superb return to form with an angry, raw punk rock sound, similar to how they began the last decade. The single also had a new b-side 'Close My Eyes' and a great version of 'Rock N Roll Music'.
The rest of the year was very quiet as they slipped out of the spotlight to continue work on their new album. They then announced 'Know Your Enemy', the sixth studio album from the Manics. Two singles were released on the same day, the first time ever, 'So Why So Sad' and 'Found That Soul'. They charted at 8 and 9 and the album was released on March 19th 2001.
To promote the album the band announced a historic visit to Cuba to play a specially organized gig in front of 5,000 Cubans and their leader Fiedal Castro in the Karl Marx Theatre. This was great publicity and again proved that the Manics can communicate on any level. The album was well received charting at number 2. It was a return to form showcasing some very rock orientated songs, the album wasn't as produced as others highlighting a back to basics principles.
Two more singles followed,
'Ocean Spray', penned by James and 'Let Robesbon Sing'.
