LIPSTICK TRACES - A SECRET HISTORY
July 14th 2003 saw the release of the Manics second compilation album, 'LIPSTICK TRACES- A SECRET HISTORY'.
This is a small insight into the Manics B-sides collection as well as unreleased material and cover songs. Taken from all eras of their career the b-sides include 'PROLOUGE TO HISTORY', 'DONKEYS', 'SEPIA', 'JUST A KID' AND 'COMFORT COMES'. The album also has two unreleased tracks, 'FOREVER DELAYED' and the final song they wrote as a four piece, 'JUDGE YOURSELF'.
The second disc which contains 15 cover songs ranges from 'ITS SO EASY' TO 'RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD' AND 'WROTE FOR LUCK'. Nicky Wire said of the album, "We wanted to redress the balance a bit, because the Greatest Hits was the corporate whore, make lots of money album, and this is more the 'Hatful Of Hollow', the home tape kind of thing, and if you look at the people we've covered on our B-sides - Guns N' Roses to Burt Bacharach - you can pretty much join the dots and see what makes us sound the way we do."
To promote the album they did a small festival tour playing at Glastonbury, The Move and Witness. They also played small sets in various HMVs across the country, very special indeed.
What's next??? A new album is in progress so we will just have to wait and see.
